It all began more than 40 years ago, when our father Romano took his first steps into the world of wine. At that time, our grandfather Ernesto Dal Forno managed a farm in Illasi covering about seven hectares, and our father decided to begin producing wine independently, hoping to transform the family business.
The turning point came almost by chance, as happens with things that seem destined to happen. During a meeting with a local craftsman, among simple gestures and ancient materials, a glance fell upon a label connected to a legendary figure in the wine world, Giuseppe Quintarelli, capable of igniting a burning curiosity in the young Romano Dal Forno. From that moment came a calling — a desire to learn more, to discover, to go beyond. Coincidences intertwined, paving the way for a long-awaited yet unexpected encounter. It was a suspended moment, filled with meaning. From there began a relationship built on esteem and respect, destined to leave a profound mark on our family.
After that meeting, an ambitious — almost visionary — project began. A long journey driven by absolute dedication: years marked by relentless work, days and nights united by the same goal — to build something lasting and recognizable over time. Step by step, through sacrifices and intuition, a solid reality with its own identity began to emerge. The work bore fruit and became tangible proof that even outside the classic production area, it was possible to create wines of the highest quality.
From Michele’s memories emerge simple yet deeply meaningful moments. A setting built on family bonds, where every gesture has preserved its significance over time.
Over time, new ideas emerged, new projects were born, and the dialogue between generations became inevitable, turning into a real opportunity for growth and change. From that point onward, a new chapter began.
/>Then came a decisive step: the acquisition of the historic Tenuta Trabucchi estate, a property with more than a century of history. Within this new setting, a profound transformation took shape which, in 2021, led Michele and Luca to create Dal Forno Bros. and begin an independent journey. Thus, a project was born with strong roots in the past but a clear vision toward the future. The Comaroto brand was created — a name that recalls the family’s history and is devoted to producing wines of superior quality.
Today, just as in the past, we remain deeply connected to our land, to manual craftsmanship, and to the teachings we received, following a philosophy rooted in profound respect for the earth and the raw materials it provides. Every decision, from vineyard to cellar, comes from a coherent and thoughtful vision that gives life to authentic and unique wines.
Valpolicella Superiore is born from a partial drying process of the grapes, followed by aging in predominantly new tonneaux barrels. It is an immediate, vibrant wine that opens with fresh fruity notes and slowly transforms in the glass, evolving into a dynamic and ever-growing experience. Alongside it, Amarone della Valpolicella represents the deepest soul of our production. Made from the same grapes, but with complete grape drying and aging in Barriques, it stands out for its broader structure and greater complexity. It is a rich and enveloping wine that embodies the most authentic expression of our craftsmanship.
He devotes himself with passion and expertise to the work in the vineyards, where everything begins, spending most of his time among the vines.
His days, marked by the slow and precise rhythm of the sun, unfold between soil preparation and vineyard care. He carefully oversees every stage of ripening until harvest time, which is carried out by hand when the fruit has reached its fullest expression. Alongside his vineyard work, he also manages the company’s commercial activities, bringing the Comaroto philosophy to the world.
He dedicates himself with care and passion to every transformation process in the cellar, from grape drying to crushing, from vinification to bottling.
His expertise, developed through many years of working alongside his father, ensures the careful management of every production phase. His remarkable meticulousness acts as a virtual seal of guarantee placed upon every bottle, enhancing the value of the brand and strengthening its identity. Comaroto is a tribute to family, to the Val d’Illasi, and to the gestures of its origins. It is the meeting point between memory and the future, between rural culture and winemaking mastery.
